Established in 1981 and 1983 respectively, the Division of Sport Science, which is based on the Departments of Physical Education and Sport Coaching, is the cradle of fostering creative talent leading cultural industries in sport and sports science. The Division of Sport Science was evaluated as the best university in the field of sport studies in 2005 by the Korean Council for University Education. In 2017, it was recognized for its excellence by achieving the top 51-100 in the field of sports-related studies at QS World University Rankings.

The excellence of the Division is at the heart of convergence education of sports science, sports culture and industry, human rights, ethics, and sports, sports + ICT/environment based on he knowledge of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
